Now I'm no scientist or researcher but I'm sure there's no reason to doubt either my methods or sources, they're pretty simple and straightforward.
Anyway, here's what I came up with, I'd love any comment or feedback...
November '09 Update
- SA DOH status
- Current 'swine flu' situation - Friday 13 November 2009Number of confirmed cases in South Australia (Population 1.5+m) - 9,107Current number of cases hospitalised last week - 0Of these hospitalised cases, the number in intensive care – 0Number of deaths associated with H1N1 Influenza 09 – 29
- Manchester, UK status
- The total number of deaths in England (Population 60+million) now stands at 124 with the UK seeing a total of 182. As of 8am 11th November 2009 the number of people hospitalised in England with Swine Flu is 785. The total of worldwide deaths from Swine Flu now stands at 6592.
- Maths exercise
- H1N1 Mortality rate = population/deaths
- SA = 1,500,000/29 = one in 51,724
- UK = 60,000,000/182 = one in 329,670!!!!
- So South Australians are more than six time as likely to die from H1N1 than residents of the UK?
